System Improvement

System Improvement Schemes   :

The department has been taking up system improvement schemes for the last decade so as to reduce the system losses besides augmenting the distribution capacity of the department. Each year varoius 11 KV lines section are upgraded by replacement of small conductors by higher current carrying capacity conductors. New 11 KV lines are erected to augment the old ones. Similarly small 11/0.4 KV distribution sub-stations which are nearly fully loaded are upgraded by transformers of higher ratings. New distribution sub-stations are installed at vrious load centres to reduce the loading of the nearby older distribution sub-stations.

On the LT lines side also, small size LT conductor are being replaced by higher current carring capacity LT conductors. More LT lines are strung where ever necessary to reduce overloading of the existing LT conductors.

All these activities decreases the transmission and distribution losses sufferred by the department besides improving the voltage profile at the consumer's premises.

During 2002-03 also, under the system improvement scheme, installation of 3 Nos. of 11/0.4 KV distribution sub-stations with a total capacity of 225 KVA, upgradation of 2 Nos. of 11/0.4 KV distribution sub-stations with an additional capacity of 200 KVA, erection of 1.2 Kms. of 11 KV line, erection of 0.9 Kms of LT line and strengthening of 1.3 Kms of L.T. line were completed.
